Tom Cruise appeared on "The View" Friday for most of the hour. In addition to expressing strong condolences to the Travolta family during the interview, which taped on Thursday, he talked about daughter Suri.

Elisabeth asked what he thinks of Suri's fame, and Cruise answered that he is torn. "It's both very flatteringly and you go, 'it is what it is.'"

He then told a story about going to see Katie Holmes (30 times and counting) in her play "All My Sons. Recently he has sat with Suri on his lap in the wings to watch, and Suri climbed out of his lap and inched her way towards the stage, batting away her dad's hand when he tried to lure her back.

You know her as Lisa Bonet from "The Cosby Show," and Lilakoi Moon (Bonet changed her name in 1995) has given birth to her third child: Nakoa-Wolf Manakauapo Namakaeha Momoa.

Lilakoi, 41, has a daughter Zoe, 20, with ex-husband Lenny Kravitz and a daughter Lola, 20 months, with boyfriend Jason Momoa of "Stargate: Atlantis" fame.

According to his website, Bonet delivered a son named Nakoa-Wolf Manakauapo Namakaeha Momoa.

Levi Johnston--who sired Sarah Palin's first grandchild and in October told the Associated Press that he was quitting high school to work as an apprentice electrician for the Arctic Slope Regional Corporation--"resigned" that job Monday, reports the Anchorage Daily News.

Questions about Levi's eligibility for the oil field job were raised by conservative Alaskan commentator Dan Fagan, as a high school diploma or GED is required by law in order to work as an apprentice.

Last week Palin threw a frantic media fit, manically calling People Magazine, emailing the AP and contacting the Anchorage Daily News about her daughter and her boyfriend's status (or not) as students.

Supermom Sarah told People Magazine that she:

wanted to be clear about their continuing work toward high school degrees because any suggestion otherwise "harms Bristol's reputation and Levi's reputation and their chances for good work opportunities."

Guess the media reporting the truth that Levi was a drop out did in fact "harm" his chance for "good work opportunities," in Palin's spin-filled world. But Levi was hired illegally, and once that was uncovered, he had to quit.

Palin denied Fagan's allegations that she was responsible for getting Levi his job, calling his remarks

"a political pot shot taken at me."

And Levi's dad Keith Johnson backs up Gov GILF, telling the Anchorage Daily News that the governor was not responsible for Levi getting the job, and in fact it was his influence. Keith Johnston works as an ASRC construction engineer.

According to his father Levi will be returning home to finish his education.

He felt it was the best thing to do to kind of calm the waters, so to speak

John Travolta's son Jett Travolta died in the Bahamas, reportedly from a seizure and hitting his head on a bathtub. His seizures were frequent and as such he was rarely left alone. Travolta has called Jett "my heart" in the past. The family had just arrived in the Bahamas on Tuesday for a New Year's vacation with staff members. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.

Jett had long suffered from seizures, convulsing and losing consciousness, and his medication that once worked had stopped, family lawyers and friends told TMZ Sunday:

Jett had been having seizures on an average of every four days, until he started taking Depokate. Ossi and McDermott say the drug initially worked, reducing the frequency to approximately once every three weeks.

Jett took Depokate for "several years," but it eventually lost its effectiveness, according to Ossi and McDermott. They say "it began to cause serious physical damage" including damage to Jett's liver. And, Jett went back to having at least one seizure every four days. So Travolta and Preston, after consulting neurosurgeons, stopped administering the drug.

Kelly Preston's sobbed Saturday over grandson Jett Travolta's death. "I am devastated," Carlson told Us through tears. "He was the light of our lives."

John Travolta tried to resuscitate son Jett, say close family friends/Travolta's lawyer who is in the Bahamas with the Travolta family:

"Jett may have still been alive when John administered CPR, and then the EMT took over. Jett was pronounced dead at the hospital. I like to believe John had a chance to say goodbye. He may have died in his dad's arms. I am not certain...

He was a wonderful boy. He had physical limitations, but when he looked in his dad's eyes, the love was tangible. When he grabbed onto his dad, he did not want to let him go."

Ossi told People how Jett was never left alone due to his history of seizures and John is "heartbroken":

According to Ossi, around 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 1, John said goodnight to his son, who was tired from a long day spent on the water with his family. Jett went to his room with his nanny. "He always had a nanny by his side because he had a history of seizures," says Ossi. "John took extra precautions. [Jett] was never alone."

Mike McDermott, John's corporate counsel, adds, "John did everything in his power to revive [his son.] John and Jett had a very strong relationship. Words cannot explain how close they were. This will take a lot of time. His life will never be the same again."

Travolta's attorney Michael Ossi says Jett suffered a seizure at his family's vacation home at the Old Bahama Bay Hotel on Grand Bahama Island. Attempts to revive him were unsuccessful and he died on scene.

The AP reports the Travoltas arrived in the Bahamas on Tuesday and confirms the above police reports that Jett Travolta had a seizure, hit his head, and was found by the caretaker unresponsive Friday morning. They had more about Jett:

Travolta's corporate and commercial attorney, Michael McDermott, said the actor had a very strong relationship with his son.

"There was unspoken communication between the two. ... It's just so hard," he said in a telephone interview with The Associated Press. "Kelly is very quiet and both are grieving."

McDermott said his family and other friends are with the couple in the Bahamas. The group came for a two-day New Year's celebration and had planned to return to Florida on Sunday.

"We're are all here and trying to help in any way we can," McDermott said. "Their pain is so evident."

Access Hollywood first reported that Jett had hit his head on the bathtub in a fall:

The actor and his family were on vacation at the Old Bahama Bay hotel on the Grand Bahama island, when Jett fell and hit his head on the bathtub, a source told Access on Friday at 10 AM PST...

When contacted by Access Hollywood, an employee at the Old Bahama Bay hotel, where Travolta owns several beachfront units, said she was "not allowed to talk about [the incident]."

Jett was born on April 13, 1992. He was named for his dad's love of flying.

Jett has one sibling, younger sister Ella Bleu, 8.

Kelly Preston discussed Jett's health problems in the past:

In 2003 Preston told Montel Williams that when Jett was 2 he became "very, very ill, but it seemed like flu symptoms" before being diagnosed with Kawasaki disease. The condition, which usually affects children from ages 2 to 5, can cause inflammation of the arteries. Usually treatable, it can lead to lasting heart damage in rare cases.

Preston, who also said Jett suffered from asthma, blamed household cleaners, fertilizers and pesticides for sparking the condition and lobbied for more detailed labeling on chemical products. She credited a detoxification program based on the writings of Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard with helping to improve Jett's health.

Travolta also has spoken in the past of Jett's condition:

"I was obsessive about his space being cleaned. We constantly had the carpets cleaned," Travolta said in a 2001 interview with CNN's Larry King, a portion of which was rebroadcast on the "Larry King Live" show Friday night. During that interview, when Jett was 9, Travolta spoke of how his son nearly died when he was 2.

It is unclear whether Jett was taking any medications for his seizures...

Travolta has spoken of his love for Jett:

"He's my first, and he's my heart. And he's a very special boy," Travolta said. "He's Daddy's boy. And...we spend a lot of time together even though I'm pretty busy. He loves the outdoors and he loves to travel.

"He loves being on the plane. We fly in the ultralight together," he continued. "And...he likes to climb trees and swim."

Tyrese shared with the crowd of kids some advice that Will Smith had given him, "You can tell how far your life and career will go by the five people you spend most of your time with. Surround yourself with a circle of five good people." The conference theme was, Get Your Green On.

At this "by youth, for the youth conference" which is also the world's largest environmental youth conference, Will.i.am said, "The most powerful people in the room today are you guys out there. The promises politicians make are nothing if you guys don't force them to execute those policies. It's important you realize how powerful you are." Throughout the morning kids were treated to workshops presented by youth that lead community projects focusing on urban forestry, water, recycling and eco-consumption; an Artist Alley that highlighted the work of local green teen artists that have environmentally-themed creations or that use recycled materials for art media.

The youthful attendees also had opportunities to meet "green" professionals such as water quality experts, scientists and experts such as tree surgeons who could advise on green industry careers. There were also two bio-diesel converted cars from MTV's Pimp My Ride.

Particularly popular exhibits included the tree giveaway -- each kid went home with a plant-able tree (if they chose), and the interactive exhibit that had kids making a paper crane (as in origami) and placing it in a reconstructed, miniature L.A. River replica which was made out of reclaimed toys and other materials. Other popular pit stops were Recycle Bank's hat with ears giveaway which handed out over 700 Fox Studios donated hats in the first half hour of the conference. Global Inheritance's bicycle-powered cell phone battery rechargers also made for an entertaining, interactive stop.

Alec Loorz addressed the crowd and confessed that when he first applied for Al Gore's presentation training, he was rejected. He went on to say that that didn't stop him and when he finally got to meet Gore, he convinced him to let him do the training and that's how he became the youngest "An Inconvenient Truth" presenter. He said he's given the presentation about 40 times so far and each time he tailors it to his audience.

"We as youth play an essential role in the change that needs to happen. Who is ready to stand up and do something about global warming?" Loorz asked. "70% of kids voted that global warming is their primary issue. Now is the time for youth to lead the change."

Loorz mentioned that kids are directing their own PSA's and movies about environmental issues. The Mayor encouraged him by saying, "We can launch an environmental youth movement. Our city's youth are the future of the green movement," and continued by telling the kids they can always upload their videos and comments to YouTube and MySpace, for example. Loorz added his own tag, "iMatter."

A cultural icon such as Will.i.am enjoys exceedingly strategic placement insofar as influencing youth. What's he doing about that? "I have this new piece of content called 'Take our planet back,' that I'm releasing in the next few weeks. It's video, it's interactive, it's all that...," shared Will.i.am. Stay tuned...

One of the key organizers of the conference, Commissioner Cynthia Ruiz of the Department of Public Works has big plans for the youth conference. "Next year we're going to take this worldwide. We're going to do a global outreach and this same time next year we're going to do this conference simultaneously all over the world."

Ruiz is going to the United Nations in May to speak. She is aligned with an organization called ATHGO (Alliance Toward Harnessing Global Opportunities) and when she went last year she spoke to a group of 400 students from 80 different countries at the U.N. Her plan is to stage the youth conference in at least 10 different countries throughout the world on the same day staggered throughout the globe's time zones. "We'll start it off in Australia and have it go around the world," shared Ruiz, "and we'll stream it on the internet to connect everybody. So what we're really creating is an environmental youth movement worldwide."

Kids were bussed in on 75 buses. Admission to the conference was free and all the exhibitors -- over 100 including TreePeople, LA Harbor, Los Angeles Conservation Corps., Star Eco Station, -- were allowed to exhibit for free. "We want to empower the youth," said Ruiz, and added, "We purposefully didn't announce that the celebrities were going to be here because we didn't want the kids to come for the wrong reasons. So it's just kind of a treat for them to see that there are celebrities who care about the environment as well."

Celebrity Bobb'e J. Thompson (30 Rock) told the kids to "commit to one thing you can do for 30 days, such as recycle or drive less, and get your friends to do it too."

Personally Loorz loves hiking up "Two Tree Hill" out where he lives which is what inspires him, being out among the trees and out in nature, to keep doing the good things he's doing for the environment.

I hadn't thought about it much before, but it makes a huge amount of sense: Don't give lottery tickets to children. That's what the National Council on Problem Gambling in Washington is telling parents and doting relatives. The Council has joined with the Canadian International Center for Youth Gambling Problems and High-Risk Behaviors in this campaign.

The campaign to explain the risks of giving lottery tickets as gifts to minors is supported by many state and provincial lotteries (not, alas, so far by my own state of New York) and has received unanimous support from the Responsible Gaming Sub-committee of the North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries.

The campaign tells us:

Research shows that the majority of adolescents gamble at least occasionally, and that lottery products may be a gateway to problem gambling. Gambling also is linked to other risk-taking behaviors. Studies indicate gamblers and problem gamblers are prone to engage in other addictive behaviors such as smoking, drinking and drug use.
